The 2020 Royal Adelaide Show is adapting amidst unprecedented times with the introduction of ‘The Show @ Home’ – a virtual event website which launches today (17 August).
Engaging and interactive, The Show @ Home showcases various aspects of the traditional show including the entertainment, show-judging, animals, amusements, rides and more.
Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of SA Inc president Rob Hunt said having to cancel the 2020 event due to the COVID-19 pandemic was a “disappointing decision”.
However, he hopes The Show @ Home will provide, “a means for people to engage with the show in a different way”.
Royal Adelaide Show Marketing Manager, Kirrilee Hay, said the idea to replace the show with a virtual event came from the show community.
“The Show @ Home intends to engage all our stakeholders who would usually be involved with the event – our sponsors, stallholders, showbag suppliers, competitive areas and of course, the public,” Ms Hay said.
A long-time show favourite, the Yellow Brick Road, will continue this year with a map available on the website allowing the public to participate on their own terms and continue to support local business.
The map provides the locations of participating outlets in Adelaide and regions like the Limestone Coast where participants can redeem offers and discounts.
For kids (of all ages), The Show @ Home also has a range of online games replicating the real deal.
Despite no physical showbag pavilion this year, you can still buy some of your favourites with a special selection available for purchase online or you can buy directly from participating operators - check out the website for more details.
From September 7-11, The Show @ Home will go live on the website with a jam-packed schedule.
Tickets for the 2021 Royal Adelaide Show will also be available to pre-purchase from September 7-11 for just $15 – (half the usual price of an adult ticket).
